Stay fit — and all for a good cause!
Many football teams and their officials keep fit with one running challenge or another. Our long-standing club member Mike Helmbrecht thought much the same. For many years he worked as a youth coach and also with the men’s team (sometimes as a super-sub). Now work has taken him to Moscow, about 1,800 km away. Yet despite the great distance he still carries our SG Motor in his heart. This year he has something very special planned. He wants to stay fit in Russia’s capital and, in the land of matryoshkas, he has plenty of options. Whether by bike, in the pool, on the slopes or on foot through the city, his fitness tracker is always running and can be followed day by day on his Facebook profile.
This is where the idea for a great campaign came from.
From Moscow he follows the coronavirus developments in Germany as well. The money in club coffers is shrinking as sponsors struggle in the crisis. With his activity he wants to raise money and make it available to the club for youth work. His plan is as crazy as it is brilliant... for every kilometer he covers Mike will donate €1!!! His goal for 2021 is at least 2,000 km. Current interim total at the end of February: 170 km.
The football department wants to take part in this lovely action and diligently collect kilometers. Players of the first team have also been doing home training since the season was interrupted (31.10.2021) and are racking up kilometer after kilometer. All sessions completed from 01.01.2021 will be credited to SG Motor’s account.
Now it’s Team Moskau against Team Motor Cunewalde... together for a good cause!
We are looking for supporters — whether members, fans or sympathizers — and sponsors to back this campaign. Whether it’s €0.01, €0.10 or €1 per kilometer covered. Every euro helps!!!
The proceeds are intended, among other things, to go toward new tracksuits for our E and F youth teams, new goal nets for all goals on the artificial turf pitch and new small goals on the grass pitch (the maintenance of which we are currently fighting for).
All tracked kilometers can gladly be sent to us via Messenger or to our deputy department head Patrick Reise at 0174/4163524.
