Season report A-Juniors
Our two A juniors Tim Otto and Hans Gehrmann went hunting for points and trophies during the 2022/23 season with SpG Schönbacher FV / SG Motor Cunewalde e.V..
Right in the first match of the season we beat the hosts SSV Germania Görlitz 9:0! The other teams caused no problems for the side around coach Maschewski; every match was won convincingly.
Thus on matchday 8 the two top-placed teams met, SpG Schönbacher FV/ SG Motor Cunewalde drew a fair 1:1 with SpG TSV Herwigsdorf 1891.
Both teams remained level on points for the rest of the season, so only goal difference should decide the championship!! Or so we thought, but then matchday 17 came and the rivals met again! Both produced a spectacular duel and went into halftime 0:0. After the restart we had to withstand a strong spell of pressure from the hosts, but Ben Gottlöber rescued our lads in the 75th minute with a penalty. Eric Bauer wrapped it up in the 80th minute with 0:2. The resistance was broken and the victory secured. That meant a 3-point lead and the title within reach! On the final matchday Herwigsdorf lost their game against SpG TSV Kunnersdorf 2:3 and with that the championship was in the bag!!! Congratulations to the A juniors!!!
We secured the indoor district championship title with 3 wins and 2 draws in the final round!!
Then came 24.06.2023 and the district cup final!! Our opponent and hosting club was, as could be expected, SpG TSV Herwigsdorf 1891.
WHAT A GAME!
The shirt is still soaking wet from excitement. After some initial probing and occasional chances on both sides, we were awarded a penalty. Once again Ben Gottlöber was the opener and coolly converted to make it 0:1. After the interim 0:3 it looked decided.
OR SO WE THOUGHT!!!! Herwigsdorf showed character and pulled back to 2:3! What a thrilling closing phase, 10 minutes to go and Herwigsdorf smelled dawn and threw everything forward. But a counter by our boys to make it 2:4 ended the hosts' dreams.
FINAL‼️OVER‼️DONE‼️ CUP WINNERS‼️ TREBLE WINNERS‼️🏆🏆🏆🥇🥇🥇
This crowns a super successful season! Congratulations to the boys! Celebrate yourselves!🎉🥳💪👍👏🫶
Our thanks also go to the two coaches Tilo Maschewski and Michael Seidel for their work with the boys!!
Now the players' paths diverge as they move to their respective clubs in the men's teams, where some had already played matches during the season. Keep it up!
