G youth team of SG Motor Cunewalde in football fever
On Sunday our Cunewalder G-footballers set off for Bautzen to the tournament of SV Post Germania Bautzen e.V..
At a really well-organized tournament the boys and girls — and I really must say, they EARNED it — came away with 4th place.
As group winners in the preliminary round they narrowly lost 0:1 to SV Grün Weiß Hochkirch.
The third-place match was not under a lucky star for our colours; after we had taken the lead and had chances for more goals, the footballers from SV Post Germania Bautzen e.V. struck. The final whistle then sounded and the winner had to be decided in a penalty shootout. It went back and forth; after what felt like 20 takers and 30 heart attacks among the spectators, Post Germania secured 3rd place.

A good 4th place and some technical flair were on display — that makes me not worry about football in the most beautiful valley of the Oberlausitz.
Wait another 10 years and today's G juniors will Cunewalde again put us back on the football map!
