Last-minute victory after 90 minutes of battle
The reaction demanded by the coaching staff after the two opening defeats was delivered by the team yesterday (Sunday) against the top side SV Burkau e.V.
Both teams mainly played long balls, which was hardly otherwise possible on the partially very muddy hard pitch. Unlike in recent matches, there were hardly any glaring lapses in the defence and the team made use of the chances in attack.
Striegler scored the opening goal after strong setup play by Mieth after just 7 minutes. The team kept their own goal clean until the break, although the hosts would also have deserved a goal.
They went contentedly into the warm dressing room.
At the start of the second half, one expected a surge from the hosts, but in vain. The defence withstood all attacks. There were not many chances in the second half either. Most of the danger from the home side came from set pieces. A free kick also led to the very flattering equaliser in the 86th minute.
But anyone who thought that Seifarth’s eleven would, as last week, give away the draw was proven wrong. They gathered themselves briefly before the substitute Brabandt, following a wonderful assist by Mieth, was perfectly set up and only had to push the ball over the goal line from just under 7 m. This lucky punch in stoppage time secured the deserved victory and thus also the first three important points of 2024!
With this attitude they should approach the upcoming matches as well. The next opportunity to prove this will come already next Saturday at 3 p.m. on the home artificial turf. The guests will be SPG SG Frankenthal/Germania Bischofswerda / Bischofswerdaer FV 08 3.
Food and drink will be provided as always. The team looks forward to your support!
