After a disastrous season with match cancellations, a minimal squad, unnecessary defeats, and catastrophic training attendance, the football department has pulled the emergency brake and set the course for a secure future.
What, unfortunately, had already become apparent in recent years is now unavoidable. Under their own steam SG Motor Cunewalde will no longer be able to field an independent men's team.
In many constructive talks with the neighboring clubs, SV Kubschütz e.V. ultimately emerged as the best possible playing partner. After some joint training sessions and the odd cold drink, the clubs agreed at club level that in the coming season they will compete in the Kreisliga as the playing community Kubschütz/ Cunewalde.
A good long-term decision for both teams. This way they will enter the campaign with a strong and, above all, deep squad and hope to establish themselves among the top five teams.
Unfortunately, with this merger joy and sorrow are close together… some, including several long-standing players, will not take this new path with us. End of career, club changes, or other personal decisions mean that they will leave our club.
Departures: Dirk Schälicke, Albert Drexler, Louis Thunig, Lukas Enge, Tim Säglitz, Oskar Striegler, Kilian Mann, Sebastian Grießig, Kevin Seckel, Max Schwieger and Luke Gonzalez Perez.
Andreas Petschke, the coach from last season, is also leaving the club. What started in the summer with much hope proved to be a major challenge over the course of the season. In the end the minimum goal of avoiding relegation was achieved. With the victory in the final match over SG Wilthen, the season still ended on a somewhat conciliatory note.

The timetable for the new season as a playing community is already set. The following dates have been fixed:

31.07.-02.08. training camp
Friendly/competitive matches: 18.07. TSG Lawalde in Lawalde
24.07. FSV 1990 FSV 1990 Neusalza-Spremberg 2. in Cunewalde
01.08. SV Traktor Malschwitz in Kubschütz
08.08. SV Neueibau in Cunewalde
