Table tennis - Qualification tournament for the U19 Ranking List 1
On Sunday, 28.06.26, the qualification tournament for Rangliste 1 of the Sächsischen Tischtennis-Verbandes e. V. for Youth 13 and 19 was held in Döbeln. Due to the extremely high temperatures and for health protection, the tournament format was exceptionally changed and shortened so that matches were played as best of three sets, which of course required a tactical adjustment. In the darkened sports hall it was still bearable temperature-wise. For our table tennis section of SG Motor Cunewalde, 15-year-old Friedemann Blümel had qualified for this tournament in Youth 19. Seventeen qualified participants from across Saxony competed for four promotion spots to Rangliste 1. There was high-class table tennis on display. In tournament phase 1 three groups were played. All group winners qualified for Rangliste 1. All group runners-up played in tournament phase 2 for the fourth promotion spot in a round-robin format. Friedemann fought excellently against strong opponents in his six-player group and finished in a good fourth place with a 2:3 match record. Several sets were very close.
