Table tennis - County championship for adults
The county championship of the Bautzen county association in table tennis for adults in singles and doubles took place on 27 September 2026 in Burkau.
From the table tennis section of SG Motor Cunewalde, Friedemann and Stefan Blümel participated in this tournament.
In the men's competition, 24 players fought for the best placements and qualification for the regional championship in six groups.
In the singles group phase, Friedemann Blümel produced strong performances and finished second in his group with a 2:1 record, behind the eventual county champion and Landesliga player Hartmut Engert (MSV Bautzen 04) and ahead of René Mann (TTV 90 Bischofswerda) and Tyler Burk (SV Grün-Weiß Elstra). All first- and second-placed players in each group qualified for the knockout stage and for the regional championship on 22 November 2026 in Pulsnitz. Among the third-placed players, three additional qualification spots for the regional championship were decided.
Stefan Blümel finished fourth in his group after Jörg Böhme (SV Kubschütz), Maik Linke (MSV Bautzen 04) and Paul Thonig (SG Steinigtwolmsdorf) with a 0:3 record and was eliminated. Friedemann won his round-of-16 match convincingly against Maik Linke 3:0. In the quarterfinals he was narrowly eliminated after strong rallies, losing 1:3 (10:12, 7:11, 11:9, 9:11) to the eventual vice-county champion and Landesliga player Falk Stuhlmacher (TTC Pulsnitz 69). In the doubles competition, Friedemann and his doubles partner Matthias Pilz (MSV Bautzen 04), after winning their round-of-16 match, lost in the quarterfinals to the strong Pulsnitz pair Sven Rudolph/Andreas Milde in close sets, 0:3, which meant elimination. For Stefan Blümel and his doubles partner Tyler Burk, the round of 16 already marked the end, as they lost decisively 0:3 to the pair Florian Scholze/Paul Thonig of SG Steinigtwolmsdorf.
This season the table tennis section is fielding three men's teams, with women allowed to play in men's teams up to the Saxony level (for example, Diana Lelanz is playing in the 2nd team). Unfortunately, for the first time no youth team could be registered. The goal of all teams is to maintain their league status.
The first men's team, promoted to the 2nd Bezirksliga, with team manager Jens Weickert, is currently in 8th place (group of 10 teams) with a 2:4 record. The second men's team, with team manager Carsten Rudolph, currently occupies 7th place with a 3:7 record in the 1st Kreisklasse in a group of 10 teams. Closely behind, our third men's team, promoted to the 1st Kreisklasse and led by team manager Jörg Dingfeld, is also in the same group in 8th place with a 3:7 record.
