The good news keeps coming - Running challenge SGM-Moskau 2021
It had been quiet for a long time, but work continued diligently. With the turn of the year the long-term duel between Mike Helmbrecht and the footballers of SG Motor Cunewalde came to an end.
Our Mike had set himself an ambitious goal: 2,000 km within a year through various activities (running, cycling, skiing, swimming...).
This idea developed into a small long-distance contest.
Due to the pandemic, no training could take place again at the beginning of the year. So a running group was formed to keep each other fit.
Over the past year we kept you updated with interim standings. From June it got a bit quiet around our footballers, as they had to prepare for and then start the new season.
This allowed Mike to slowly get closer to the performances of the SG.
With the renewed interruption of match and training operations at the beginning of November, our Motor Mannen once again began individual training. So in the nearly 1.5 months since, many more kilometres were logged.
In the end it got really close again!
Unfortunately Mike did not quite reach his goal of 2,000 km, but it is still an impressive achievement. On average he ran/rode about 5 km per day — whether summer or winter, rain or heat. Time and again we received his logs with many beautiful pictures from the magnificent Moskau. Many thanks for that, Mike!
Now to the final result. After a year of sweat, muscle aches and heavy legs, our SG Motor, with strong support from Carola Nowak — thank you again for that — reached 1,782.44 km.
Mike Helmbrecht reached an incredible 1,734 km!!!
There are really no winners in such an action, but alongside Mike’s performance Carola gave us the decisive advantage with an incredible 425 km.
We also thank Mike for his donation in the second half of the year in the amount of €1,000.
In total it is €2,000 that will be used for our youth work. Specifically we will use the money for four new small goals for our grass pitch. The old goals have long since been in an unplayable condition!
