BHG Cup 2022 in Thonberg
A really strongly contested tournament drew our (young) E youth team to Thonberg today. At this point a HUGE compliment to the organizer Ostsächsische Nachwuchs- & Fußballakademie e.V. and Thonberger Sportclub 1931 e.V. for the excellent organization of the whole day. A full 54 teams (G- to E youth) from near and far were hunting for trophies and medals from early morning!!! Really amazing what you put together.
Our "little grenades" drew a tough group. The motto was still "don't be put off" ☝️😉. Matches were 1:5 and 1×8 minutes!
Our SG Motor Kids then got off to a very good start in the tournament and at least snatched a 1:1 from Bischofswerdaer FV 08 (goal by Mira). After that game there was a slight dip from our little kickers. Too much respect and slight coordination problems cost us game 2 (0:4 against SV Einheit Kamenz) and 3 (0:2 SG Nebelschütz).
The last group game against FSV Budissa Bautzen e.V. was closer again and we even had the win at our feet. But after the goalless draw we were left with only 5th place in the group. In the placement round against Fußball SpG Elstra/Thonberg II luck was not on our side either. Instead of converting one of the good chances we had to go to a penalty shootout and that, unfortunately, was lost as well.
But then it was time to lift our heads once more and give it everything in the last game. It was back and forth on the field again, but this time with a better ending for our "little grenades". Captain Moritz relieved us with his strike and so we won against SV Bischheim-Häslich e.V. II 1:0.
Yes, in the end we finished 19th, but that sounds worse than it actually was. For US the learning factor matters once again and what you can take away from such encounters.
The tournament victory was celebrated by SV Einheit Kamenz🏆. 2nd place went to Gaußig 🥈 and 3rd place to SV Oberland Spree🥉.
