Cunewalder F juniors at the Dubai Cup
At Germany's largest youth indoor football tournament, the Dubai Cup in Dresden, our Cunewalde F-Youth competed over the weekend and immediately came up against the blockbuster RB Leipzig U9. But that wasn't all in the group stage; we also had to hold our own against FV Preussen Eberswalde, Radeberger SV Fussball, Großenhainer SV, SV Loschwitz e.V., Post Sv Dresden and JFC Gera.
Unfortunately the first three games were lost and our boys and girls were about to hang their heads. But a young wild one doesn't give up! After the first point came three wins in a row!! That meant third place in the group and a good starting position for the placement matches.
Small interesting side note: the only goal that was scored against the boys from RB-Leipzig in the group stage was scored by the SG Motor Cunewalde. The Motorenschmiede was really firing!
In the intermediate round we met the juniors of Weistropper SV and lost 1:2. After a long tournament day that result meant we would play for 11th place.
What was going on here? The next blockbuster opponent had arrived — the traditional side BSG Chemie Leipzig was waiting for us.
But our boys and girls, trained in the Motorenschmiede, won 3:0!!
That was 11th place out of a total of 32 youth teams!
AMAZING!! DIE SPORTGEMEINSCHAFT IS SO PROUD OF YOU!
Our thanks go to the boys and girls, the coaches, the parents and all supporters of the SG Motor Cunewalde!
