Great success in table tennis - three golds and one bronze at the district youth championships
The district championships of the Kreisfachverband Bautzen in table tennis for girls and boys in singles and doubles took place on 14.9.24 (Youth 11 and Youth 15) and on 15.9.24 (Youth 13 and Youth 19) in Laußnitz.
From the table tennis department of SG Motor Cunewalde the following took part in the age groups U15 and U19: Friedemann Blümel in U15 and U19; in U19 Lenny Weickert, Richard Fiedler and Anton Lüdeke. All players always gave their best and fought exemplary for every ball.
In the boys' U15 category 30 participants fought for the best placements. Friedemann finished the group stage in the singles competition as first with 2:0 matches and progressed relatively smoothly through the knockout rounds from the round of 16 to the final. There he won the gold medal in an exciting final against Finn Lehmann from MSV Bautzen 04 with 3:1 and became district champion. Friedemann is qualified for the regional championship on 26.10. in Burkau.
In doubles Friedemann and his partner Finn Lehmann reached the final. There they beat the Bautzen doubles team Conrad Jeremies/Noah Thiele 3:1, thus winning the gold medal and becoming district champions.
In the boys' U19 category 29 participants started. In the singles competition Friedemann (2:0 matches) and Lenny (3:0 matches) qualified from the group stage as group winners and Richard (2:1 matches) as a group runner-up for the knockout stage. Anton was unfortunately eliminated with 1:2 matches as group third, narrowly missing out because only the first- and second-placed players from each group qualify for the knockout stage. In the knockout stage Richard was unfortunately eliminated 0:3 in the round of 16 against the 18-year-old Philipp Kempe from SV Grün-Weiß Elstra. Friedemann reached the quarterfinals, where he unfortunately lost 0:3 to the eventual third-place finisher Philipp Kempe. Lenny also fought his way to the quarterfinals, where he unfortunately lost 0:3 to the eventual district champion Jannis Manczak from SV Kubschütz. On a very long, exhausting tournament day Lenny and Friedemann still won their placement matches for the regional championship on 27.10. in Burkau: Lenny won 3:2 against Julian Manczak from SV Kubschütz and Friedemann won 3:1 against Jonathan Holfeld from SV Weiß-Rot Schirgiswalde. Lenny and Friedemann thus shared fifth place and qualified for the regional championship.
In the doubles competition for boys U19 the Cunewalde doubles team Lenny Weickert/Friedemann Blümel, the mixed doubles Richard Fiedler/Hanna Kretschmar (TTSV Kirschau/Sohland) and the doubles team Anton Lüdeke/Ben Voigtländer (SV Laußnitz) entered. Anton and Ben were unfortunately eliminated in the round of 16 by the Bautzen doubles Finn Lehmann/Tim Krauß with 0:3. Richard and Hanna were only defeated in the semifinal by the Kubschütz doubles Jannis and Julian Manczak 0:3 and were able to celebrate winning the bronze medal. Hanna became district champion in the girls' U19. Friedemann and Lenny also excelled in doubles. They fought their way first to the semifinal, where they beat the strong doubles pair Philipp Kempe (Elstra)/Lenny Aust (SG Lückersdorf-Gelenau) 3:2. In the final they sensationally won 3:2 against the Kubschütz doubles Jannis and Julian Manczak, claimed the gold medal and became district champions. By the way, Jannis and Julian play for Kubschütz in the first men's team in the 1st Bezirksliga. Our warmest congratulations to all medal winners!

On 01.09.2024 Friedemann had already taken part in the STTV Ranking Tournament 1 in the boys' U15 category in Döbeln. Friedemann finished ninth against strong competition and after several very close match outcomes with 3:6 matches, tied on points with the eighth-placed player but ranked ninth due to the inferior set difference. Friedemann was coached by Stefan Blümel.
