The table tennis section of SG Motor Cunewalde reports
Men's District Championship
On 3 October 2025 the men's district singles championship took place in Pulsnitz. From our table tennis department of SG Motor Cunewalde, Friedemann Blümel and Stefan Blümel took part in this tournament with 26 participants.
In the group stage Friedemann Blümel finished third with a 1:2 match record; he lost the match against Roman Sauer of SV Burkau very narrowly in the fifth and deciding set 9:11. Against Holger Weß of MSV Bautzen 04 Friedemann lost 0:3, and he narrowly defeated Jens Mandel of SG Großnaundorf 3:2. Thus he narrowly missed the final round, for which the first and second in each group qualified. In the placement matches for the third-placed group players fighting for a spot at the district championship Friedemann won the quarterfinal against Enrico Thies of SV Burkau 3:1, prevailed in the semifinal against Florian Scholze of SG Steinigtwolmsdorf 3:0, and then lost in the final to Philipp Kempe of SG Lückersdorf-Gelenau 0:3. This makes Friedemann the first reserve for the Ostsachsenmeisterschaft der Herren on 23 November 2025 in Neusalza-Spremberg. It has since been announced that he has qualified for the district championship. Stefan Blümel finished fourth in the group stage: 0:3 against Sandro Rudolph of TTC Pulsnitz 69, 0:3 against Florian Scholze, and 1:3 against Matthias Pilz of MSV Bautzen 04.
Silver at the U19 District Championship
On 25 and 26 October 2025 the district youth singles championships of the Spielbezirk Ostsachsen in table tennis took place in Pulsnitz.
For these championships, from our table tennis department of SG Motor Cunewalde the 15-year-old Friedemann Blümel and the 16-year-old Lenny Weickert qualified in the U19 age group, which took place on 26 October 2025. The mere qualification of our table tennis–enthusiastic boys for these district championships is to be considered a great success.
15 boys took part in the U19 age group at this qualification tournament.
In the group stage in the singles competition Friedemann finished third in the group stage with a 1:2 match record: 0:3 against Alfons Tietze of Post SV Görlitz, 3:1 against Jonathan Holfeld of SV Weiß-Rot Schirgiswalde, 0:3 against Leonard Klein of TTF Weißwasser. Lenny finished fourth with a 0:3 match record: 0:3 against Lenny Aust of SG Lückersdorf-Gelenau, 1:3 against Hardy Fritsch of SV Eckartsberg, 0:3 against Julian Pohl of Post SV Görlitz. Unfortunately, despite often close set scores, Friedemann and Lenny did not reach the final round. The district champion was Sachsenliga player Alfons Tietze, who beat his club teammate Moritz Drube in a high-quality final in close sets 3:1. In the doubles competition Lenny and his doubles partner Lenny Aust were unfortunately eliminated in the quarterfinals after a 2:0 lead, losing dramatically 2:3 to the pairing Julian Pohl/Leonard Klein, with the fifth deciding set narrowly lost 10:12. Friedemann, with his doubles partner Moritz Drube, won the quarterfinal 3:0 against the pair Hardy Fritsch/Jonathan Holfeld. Friedemann and Moritz reached the final by winning the semifinal 3:1 against the pairing Julian Pohl/Leonard Klein. There they lost after a 1:0 lead, 1:3, to the Görlitz pairing Alfons Tietze/Richard Hilse. Friedemann and Moritz were thus able to celebrate winning the','silver medal','(see photo of the awards ceremony, second place left Friedemann, right Moritz). Congratulations!
From a training perspective Friedemann and Lenny were coached by our youth officer Ralf Weickert. Many thanks for that! Jens Weickert and Stefan Blümel also supported Lenny and Friedemann.
