Tournament weekend for our youth
On Friday the B-Jugend were guests at the Muskelkatercup hosted by SV Blau-Weiss Deutsch-Ossig Fanpage. After the last tournaments, the results of which we would rather draw a veil over, nobody expected much. But things turn out differently—and often more surprisingly—than you think…. The boys started full throttle from the outset and enjoyed playing football, which SV Grün-Weiß Gersdorf felt as we sent them to the dressing room 3:0. That was followed by a 1:4 against NFV Gelb-Weiß Görlitz 09 e.V., but our boys were not fazed. The subsequent matches against SV Rothenburger SV, SpG Königshain and the team BWDO/ GFC Rauschwalde we all won 1:0. Suddenly everything was possible! The tournament victory was within reach! In the last game we needed a win; in the final match we drew 1:1 with the team GFC Rauschwalde/ BWDO. That meant second place with the same number of points—and only decided by goal difference!
SUPER BOYS!
That was a brilliant team performance! As the boys had said beforehand: we simply wanted to enjoy playing football with our mates again!!
Our F-Jugend also accepted BWDO's invitation on Saturday morning and travelled to Görlitz for the sporting competition. No dithering—in the first game we sent SV Meuselwitz off the pitch with a 3:0. In the second game the sportsmen from Holtendorfer SV were one goal better and the match ended 2:3. But the motto was to simply carry on and win. That succeeded with a 3:0 over the host's 2nd team and we won the next game as well. Ostritzer BC were beaten 1:0.
That secured 2nd place! What an outstanding performance from our girls and boys! In the final match we were able to play with freedom and even took the only points off the tournament winners with a 2:2! Congratulations to our team and the coaches, and to SV Blau-Weiß Deutsch-Ossig for winning the tournament!
Our D-Jugend set off for Löbau to take part in the Lawalder Hallentagen. There are good days and bad days—and Saturday was such a day. The group stage ended with 0 points and a 2:14 goal record. The matches finished 1:7 (FSV Budissa Bautzen e.V. D2), 0:3 (Schönbacher FV) and 1:4 (Herrnhuter SV). That left only the match for 7th place, which SpG Schönbacher FV/ TSG Lawalde won 1:2. Heads up! The next successful result will come for sure.
Our C-Jugend had to travel a bit further to their tournament; we were invited to the Budenzauber hosted by Königswarthaer SV in Hoyerswerda. In a round-robin format we had to measure ourselves against five other clubs. In the very first match we took a point with a 1:1 draw against the hosts. In the second match SV Zeißig 1993 e. V. beat us 1:0 and the spectator wondered how that could happen. But that was not all—things got tougher! If you don't finish three clear chances up front, you end up conceding 0:1 and SpG Großdubrau/ Kleinwelka leave as winners. Now everything was at stake and points were needed—and that worked! SpVgg Lohsa/ Weißkollm e. V. and Hoyerswerdaer FC couldn't beat us and after two 0:0s we collected important points. In the end we finished 5th; with better chance conversion there could have been much more. Importantly, our team was never technically outclassed in any match and acquitted themselves well.
The finale of the sporting weekend was reserved for our E-Jugend, who were guests at the Lawalder Hallentage. It started with a 0:0, a shared point with SV Kubschütz e.V.. Eigenscher FV left the pitch 0:3. Unfortunately SpG TSG Lawalde/ Schönbacher FV were one goal better in the last group game, winning 2:1. Somehow we had probably used up our luck for the weekend. The semi-final against SV Lautitz 96 was lost extremely unluckily on penalties, 1:2! Keep your heads up—now it's about the bronze trophy. Give everything and beat TSG Lawalde in the third-place match. As I said, sometimes you have days like that…. We lost again on penalties, 0:1! So unlucky to miss out on 3rd place. Keep your heads up! You can't win all the time.
You have already given us so much joy! We thank all the footballers for their commitment, the coaches for their dedication, and the parents and grandparents for their support and for the transport duties.
